The majority of the vitamin A in your body is stored in your liver, and liver diseases can affect vitamin storage.

For healthy vision, you need vitamin A. For your retinas to function properly, your eyes must produce certain pigments. Your eyes’ capacity to produce these pigments is hampered by a deficiency in vitamin A, which can result in night blindness. In other words, vitamin A is required for the ability to see at night. Night blindness is one of the earliest symptoms of vitamin A deficiency (nyctalopia). Night blindness affects your ability to see well in the dark, but if there is enough light, you can see normally. Night blindness is caused by a retinal condition.
Vitamin A is also necessary for the production of moisture in the eyes, which keeps the corneas well-lubricated.Your corneas and eye whites may become dry as the vitamin A deficit progresses, and you may not be able to produce tears (xerophthalmia). Your eye whites may develop foamy patches known as Bitot spots. Your corneas may develop open sores (corneal ulcers), or they may become dry or cloudy (keratomalacia), both of which can cause blindness.
A lack of vitamin A can cause a variety of problems, such as respiratory tract infections, eye problems, skin problems, infertility, and problems with growth.
